Biographie

Minuto research concerns the artistic and literary neo-avant-garde of the late 20th century, spanning visual art, experimental poetry, performance, and counterculture artists' magazines, with a focus on transculturalism, verbovisuality, and intermediality. Postdoctoral Visiting Researcher 2026 at the Università degli studi di Bergamo (Dept. of Letters, Philosophy, Communication), Minuto is an Honorary Research Fellow at the Université de Liège (Dept. of Historical Sciences; Dept. of Modern Languages) and an Honorary Research Associate at the Royal Holloway University of London (Dept. of Languages, Literatures and Cultures) where she is an affiliate at the SHAÉC and the Centre for Visual Culture, respectively. At present, she is working on the monograph Marcel Broodthaers. Il bestiario, 1945-1975 (Quodlibet, forthcoming in December 2026). Prior to this, Minuto held an Experienced Grant (2024-2025) at Università degli studi di Bergamo (Dept. of Letters, Philosophy, and Communication), a Wallonia-Brussels International Excellence Grant (2020-2021; 2022-2023), and she was granted a Fund for Scientific Research-FNRS Grant (2021-2022) at the Université de Liège (Dept. of Historical Sciences; Dept. of Modern Languages) with the project La poésie concrète et visuelle en Italie et Belgique: transferts culturels et publications d'artistes entre 1960 et 1970. Her first postdoctoral position was at KU Leuven as University Research Fellow from 2018 to 2022 (Dept. of French, Italian, and Spanish Literature). Minuto completed her PhD in Textual Analysis and Theory at the Università degli studi di Bergamo in 2016 with a dissertation on Marcel Broodthaers¿ interartistic practices. She has an MA in Contemporary Art History from Sapienza Università di Roma with a thesis on Gordon Matta Clark's building dissections and performances in urban space. Minuto has published widely on Marcel Broodthaers, word-image relations and neo-avant-garde artists' publications with a series of cross-disciplinary, comparative, and transcultural-orientated focus. Her latest co-edited publication Engaged Visuality: The Italian and Belgian Visual Poetry Phenomenon in the 1960s and 1970s (De Gruyter Brill, 2026) investigates the poetic literacy exchanges between the two countries. In 2023, Minuto was awarded a Marie Sklodowska-Curie actions Seal of Excellence by the European Commission in recognition of my research activities in the field of European postwar visual poetics. She has also published four co-edited special issues on the musealization of performance art (Arabeschi no. 25, 2025), representations of animals in contemporary art (Elephant & Castle, no. 27, 2022), and verbovisual arts from the late 20th century to the present (piano b. Arti e culture visive, vol. I and vol. II, 2020). As a member of the FNRS contact group Museums and Contemporary Art directed by Prof. Julie Bawin (ULiège), Minuto has a particular interest in knowledge transfer and working with non-academic audiences, especially in the museum sector. Her interdisciplinary research across visual arts, postwar visual poetics, and artists' publications has informed conferences, exhibitions, and events internationally, leading to new pathways in art historical research as well as to the open research culture as a whole. These initiatives attracted research community as well as a wider non-academic audience and were hosted in leading institutions for contemporary art and visual culture, including Fondazione Luigi Rovati in Milan (forthcoming in April 2027), Bourse de Commerce - Pinault Collection (2024), M HKA Museum of Antwerp (2022), Academia Belgica in Rome (2022), MNAM - Centre Pompidou (2021), Royal Museum of Fine Arts of Belgium (2018), Italian Cultural Institute in Brussels (2015-2019).
